Help me plan my garden! (pics included)

Hello!

I have been trying to get up the courage to put a garden in my front yard-my yard is so ugly!

I have this big area of dirt right in front of my front lanai and I want to plant it!

Besides the fact that I know nothing about keeping plants alive or even different kinds of plants, I have some unique design challenges with this area.

Here are pics:

It's like a "room" there are basically walls on 3 sides. And then a big empty wall.

First of all, what kinds of central florida plants require NO maintence? I am totally not going to be gardening every week. Maybe every month at the most.

second, what would you do with the fact its like a "room" for plant placement? I want it to look really organic-not all "semetrical."

What would you do with the big empty wall? Hang something up there?

What is the sun orientation for this area (what direction does your house face?) I think that knowing when it gets sun and shade will be important in your plant selection.

Good luck!

considering the climate you are in and the fact that you said you dont want to be working on it often...

have you considered doing a "desert" garden?

cactus and rocks and other succulant plants??
