I bet the article written in your head would make a great editorial piece (or letter to the editor) in the paper...

I agree, I think you should definitely write to the editor. Maybe other people will submit their own thoughts, too.

Not to change the subject or anything, but I had a problem pumping at my workplace, too. I was working part-time (4 hour shifts) and I needed one break to pump. I hand-expressed, which took a considerably longer amount of time. I would start my break, use the restroom, eat some crackers, and express. By the time I got enough (usually about 6 ounces), an hour had gone by. I understood my boss's concern - it cut my shift down to 3 hours - but I also didn't want to rush myself, because as I'm sure every nursing mother knows, more stress leads to less milk.

I ended up leaving the job to stay at home, so it isn't a problem anymore. But I wonder if other mothers had to deal with the same thing.
