Rant - CD my sister gave me - Page 2

Thanks guys! I knew a couple of people might understand how this would be annoying.

My sister doesn't even KNOW that I'm upset by this, and I won't be telling her either... after all I think she is not doing this to be mean, still it disturbed me. She is just uninformed about birth and my approach to it and what I would be feeling right now. I know it sounds bad, but I'm a little afraid to listen to the slow one... I know it is probably nice though, so I put it in my bag to listen to later.
Healthnutmama- I could totally see my sister answering the phone with PUSH! When she calls me she says 'Are you in labor?'. It gets old... real quick.
Apricot- that is a good suggestion. My husband has some classical music on his Ipod that we are going to take with us.

Septagram- Yes, let me know what albums you are going to bring with you, it might give me ideas!

Well, I'm not bringing anything with me, since this babe is going to be born at home. Since my DH and I are REALLY into music, we have a few thousand CDs to choose from. I'm just going to make sure that I have these set aside because I think I'll want to listen to them. These are CD's that have a lot of meaning to me..

To Record Only Water For 10 Days - John Frusciante
The reason I'm going to have this one is because the lyrics have a lot to do with overcoming the past. My son's birth has me fearful of what this birth will be, so I think it will help me if I need to hear it. I know all of the words, so if I need a distraction I'll put it on and sing all of the words. Just know that it is a little primitive sounding, as JF recorded it on an 8 track in his apartment.

The Margerine Eclipse - Stereolab
This is my favorite band and their music is upbeat and uplifting. I think this will help me "dance" or sway to the beat if I need it. It's really beautiful French pop, just to give you an idea of what it sounds like. It's thick, lush, pretty, and feminine. The singer has an absolutley beautiful voice. They used to have two singers, but one passed away. This album touches on that since this was the first one since her death, but with my brother dying when I was pregnant with DS, it will help me to think of him.

Music for 18 Musicians - Steve Reich
It's very soothing and doesn't stop from one track to the next. The movement is amazing. There are no lyrics and the music evolves as you listen to it. I find that it's not intrusive, which may be important. This one I highly recommend that you pick up.

I'm going to have a whole mess of Aphex Twin to choose from. I'm also going to have all of Morphine's records set aside, some of the Funkadelic, the Doors, the Beatles, some Talking Heads, and maybe a little Weird Al.
