What size shoes does your toddler wear?

And how old is s/he? Ds is 12 months and has been walking like a pro for a while. It's cold and snowy, so he doesn't really get down to walk outside (really icy since he started walking). He wears Robeez inside and I think it's time for shoes. What size did you start with? How do I size him?

Thanks!

At that young I would not even consider hard sole shoes. We kept dd in soft shoes until around 2.5yrs when she outgrew them all.

Soft is better for everyone.

Well, I agree with you to an extent. I really want him to be able to go outside and walk around. It's not really possible to do that in Robeez, though. The snow is well above my head in some places and it can get slushy. He won't wear them all the time, but I need something more weather appropriate (I have robeez boots, but they aren't good for this weather, either.)

There are several soft warmer boots I've seen people post... needless to say, we don't need them here so I didn't save links. But perhaps if you started a thread asking someone would have suggestions.

Maybe you should go to a shoe store and have his foot measured.

Ds was a '5' at that age, now he's a '7'. You can measure dc's foot with a ruler and that number is in inches.

I don't like buying shoes online, I like to feel them and bend them to see how flexable they are. That way you can also get dc's feet measured by the salesperson.

I can understand wanting shoes other than Robeez for outside. I wanted something with more cushion between ds's sole and the pavement. But you also don't need 'hard' shoes.
You can look in consignments stores too. I found some Pumas for $5 and they are super flexable.

How about some rubber boots with thick wool socks inside Ds's rubber boots are super flexable.

If you go to Striderite's website they have a whatsamathingie you can use to measure your child's foot to get his shoe size. I used that for my ds and it was accurate. I used the thingie on the Striderite website and then measured his feet on the "official" foot measurer (gee, I'm tired!) at Payless to double check it before we went to Sears to buy his footgear.

I keep him barefoot or in soft soled shoes most of the time but bought a pair of leather flexible soled shoes at Sears because for the same reason you're looking for shoes for your ds (snow, ice, etc.) and he LOVES to be able to run out into the snow and just play around a bit and the soft soled shoes just don't have any traction and he would fall on his little face and slip and slide on the snow and make slush and that's NO fun!

24 Month Old DD wears a size 5.5.

My 23 month old wears a 7.5 or 8. I think at that age she was about a 5 or 6 but was still really only wearing the Robeez/soft soles at that age.

DD is 12 months and a 6c

You really just have to measure because kids feet vary sooo much. My son is an 8XW at 21 months... I can't even fit a normal width shoe on his foot.

Any dept store will measure his shoe size for free. DD was a size 4 1/2 WIDE at 12months and now at 16 months is 5-5 1/2 WIDE!!!

It really varies by the kid. Dd is 13 months and just now into size 3's. She wore the size 0-6 month Robees until after her first birthday. But she has a friend just a month older than her who already wears size 8, so it really depends.

14m, sz 6

dd is nearly 16 mo and her feet are a UK6.5 which I think equates to a US size 8? I always get her feet measured at a quality shoe store and let them fit the shoes themselves too.

In the house we're always barefoot but outside she always runs about so shoes are necessary.

dd is 16 months and wears a size 5 - 5 1/2. she wears pedoodles when we go outside

I agree that you should get his feet measured. There's such a wide range. My 14 month old is a size 6 extra wide, I think.

Have you seen the new Robeez treads. They have a rubber sole for outside, but are still flexible. See Kai Run also has really flexible shoes. I think you could find their boots for sale now too.

*Oh, I just reread your post. If he's not walking outside, I don't really see why you would worry about putting anything but soft soled shoes on him.

DD is 17 months and wears a 6 1/2 Wide. Her friends who are a few months older can wear anything from 4 to 7. So, you need a measurment and measure both feet! One foot is a 1/2 inch shorter on my dd.

We have Stride Rite for winter and also a pair of pedipeds for indoors. We're in MN...can't do soft soled shoes year round at all.

But, I think you should get the new toddler robeez with the new soles for outdoors. Or the pediped flex, which is the same type of idea. I love Pedipeds.
