Going later with baby #2?

I vaguely remember a thread about this a long time ago, but does it seem that despite what you would think, baby #2 or more comes later than the first?

Responding to the "tired of the comments" thread made me think about this. My EDD is THursday, and even my mw is shocked that the baby isn't here yet - likely because DH and I were trying to prepare for everything very early this time , and she feels that the moms intuition is usually right - not because it's her 'professional opinion' or anything.

DD was born at 38w4d, and I'm now 39w5d and of course, I'm starting to worry now :P

What do you think, have you found yourself going later during pregnancies after the first one?

Well, my DD was born at 37 weeks, and here I sit at 37 weeks and NOT in labor.

But, I'm not sure if that's really accurate, because I was induced with DD and am not facing that with this baby. So...yeah.

My first was my earliest at 18 days early. My second was 7 days early. My third 10 days early. My fourth 4 days LATE! And my fifth 16 days early.

For the record, my girls were born before their due dates. My son was born after his due date. So in my experience, boys take a bit longer to cook.

Oh geez I hope not! DD was born 3 days after her due date, I am hoping this guy comes a week early (so my mom's visit coincides with when I need the help the most!)

All 3 of my children were born EXACTLY 10 days before their EDD. I think my unterus has a calendar and sends out an eviction notice at 38 weeks 4days. . However, I have VERY regular cycles, textbook, ovulate on day 14 and know EXACTLY when I ovulated with all 3, so my EDD was completely accurate.

Well that's the weird thing - I was charting for both, so I know my EDD was completely accurate both times, this guy has just been hanging out a few days longer.
Edit: I just calculated it out with DD (baby #1) being 252 days from temp dip, and from temp dip to today this time is 260 days. Hmm

HA! I keep hearing that - I wonder if it is more than an old wives tale, I did read somewhere that baby girls do have a higher survival rate if born early or something like that.

Hmm, well, I'm interested to see how much later this little guy goes!

my first son was 2 weeks early and my second son was 2 weeks late. i was going mad being pregnant 4 weeks longer the second time....going for 3 walks a day....begging for sex from my hubbie : ).....and chugging castor oil! i am currently 37 weeks and 5 days preggo with a daughter and i have no feeling about when she is coming. the midwives seems to think i will be early but i am not getting my hopes up!

ds #1 was a day early, ds #2 was a day late, dd was 2 days early. I'll be really surprised if this one goes much earlier or later than that. Though I wouldn't mind being done sooner rather than later...

Dd was born at 38w3d (went into labor 38w2d) spontaneously. She was my first.

This one is still not here yet, at 39 1/2 weeks. My midwife seems surprised; so does the chiro. Both thought (like me) that the LO would be here already.

TONS of contractions, sometimes regular and painful for many hours at a time, & no baby. Hmmm . . . .

It does make me worry, but I'm just trying to tell myself that this baby is happy and comfortable and warm and just not ready yet. And that he or she will come when s/he's ready.

I am also kind of subscribing to the theory that this one might be late because s/he's a boy (we're having a surprise). I've thought from the beginning that this one was a boy, though I don't have any real reason to believe that - just a hunch.

Amethyst was born at 37 weeks 3 days, and Asheby was 38 weeks 1 day. If I have another I will expect to deliver at about 39 weeks

My first was born at 37w3d. I'm 37w1d today and realizing that I've mentally prepared myself and physically prepared my surroundings to go into labor in the same timeframe as before. Despite knowing logically that this babe might sit tight a while longer, it's been hard for me to actually accept that I may go longer this time. I'm fully expecting two days from now to be a kind of tough day for me emotionally if/when this lo decides not to make an appearance.

#1-37w
#2-38w1d
#3-40w1d

All girls. Who knows! They come when they want to.

DD1 - 38 weeks
DD2 - 37 2/7 weeks
this baby - I'm 39 weeks and she's still in there. I'm in disbelief that I'm still pg.

HAHAHA!! You see? That's why I'm sitting here fussing. We have prepared everything for the baby to come around the same time (38w4d) and now I'm still sitting here waiting at 39w5d with no baby and nothing left to prepare! I was SO sure he would arrive at the full moon/eclipse, then Leap Day, yet he is still hanging out, not budging.

I totally understand! With my first 2 being 37w and 38w, I was crying (literally) when my due date arrived and #3 was still baking. It was terrible. This time around I'm just chilling b/c I don't know what to expect!

I'm not in your DDC, but I had to respond. DD1 was born at 39 weeks. DD2 was born at 41 weeks 6 days. Hours shy of a transfer to OB. Bet you didn't want to hear that!

Yeah - that is something that is worrying me. I am planning a visit to the naturopath for 41w just in case I'm sure a little gentle acupuncture may help him to help me stay away from a hospital birth.

I also hope not! DD was born at 42 weeks (via C-section unfortunately because I never even went into labor). . .and since I'm planning a homebirth, I don't want to be transferred to an OB.
