Thinning out my herbs?

I've never grown herbs. I'm an herb-idiot.

I planted cilantro, basil, and parsley in pots on my kitchen windowsill. So they are just now sprouting and I realize... that I put a LOT of seeds in those little pots. For sure way too many... but I'm scared to thin them out.

I know that's irrational, right?

They are 4 in pots. Should I thin them down to just one plant?

Advice... please?

I would just snip down to the healthiest one in each pot. I think somekinds of basil (mini?) can grow close together. My cilantro plants each have a 6-10 inch spread right now (I direct seeded them). They spread a lot! You could try seperating them, but it would be a shame to loose them all if you only really want one or a few of each. I think some people plant lots of seeds in one pot on purpose though.....

(Ok, now totally OT: I always want to know if your name is from the Tori song? Because I always hear that line in my head when I see you here)

Yup. It's not an attempt to upset christians of the world. It's just a Tori Amos song... though I don't mind ruffling a few feathers in the meantime.

How many pots do you have? Just one per plant?

If you just have one per plant, I'm gonna second jessaries. However, you might be able to (gently) transfer the baby seedlings after a couple of weeks to the outside or other pots. I'm an herb nut, too, and am planting on growing lots and lots and lots of basil and cilantro (not so much parsley) to make into pestos.

Mmmm....pesto....I can't WAIT until summer.
