Nipple Confusion

So Beatrix has a lovely case of nipple confusion. Since she was in the NICU and I wasn't producing anything we had to give her a bottle. Noone made mention of an SNS and when I brought it up it wasn't even given a 2nd though, just pushed aside. So now she's home, I'm barely producing anything (about a tablespoon per pump session) and I want, more than anything to be able to breastfeed my baby.
She won't latch at all. She will suck on my finger and did most of her feeding now using the SNS on my finger, but she won't latch. She fights and screams with all that she is worth. I've seen 2 lactation consultants today, one at the hospital and several nurses, she just won't latch, or won't for more than a minute.
Any ideas or tips?

(I'll post on the breastfeeding forum too)

Try oatmeal to boost your supply. Over in breastfeeding on pafe one or two there is a thread about boosting supply for returning to work-lots of good oatmeal suggestions. I always notice I am way fuller after eating anything oatmealy. Can't help you with the nipple confusion. Hugs and good luck.

Don't give up! I know how terribly hard it is when breastfeeding isn't going well. My baby started out nursing but stopped after about 4 days and wasn't able to latch anymore. Two weeks later, she started to latch on again, and we're working to get back to exclusively nursing.

We did finger-feeding in the meantime. And I know how time consuming it is to finger-feed and pump, but it is worth it! She will figure it out! Hang in there!

Are you cleared for a bath? If so, try taking her in with you and seeing if that stimulates her rooting reflex.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Hang in there. Try to bath with her and turn up the heat in your house and do skin to skin. Also try xposting in the NICU section of life w/ a babe, there are a lot of mamas there dealing with simmilar stuff. My twins were NICU babies. They were able to transistion to nursing at home, but it did take work.

I had the same problem - not NICU - but C sectioned, flat nipples, bottle for 5 days. We're using nipple shields now and are full time on-the-boob and bottle free. I want to enenually wean off the shields but all in good time. You moght want to give the shields a try.
