Why can't we have TV ads like this one?

I saw this posted on another forum and I thought I'd post it here too. It's a lovely video

The caption says it is a pubic service announcement in Puerto Rico about nursing:

La Teta... dar la TeTA es dar ViDA

Gosh you'd almost think nursing a young child was normal.

Totally : I call this the "Tune in Tokyo" move for those 80's kids. The only "past time" I won't let my kids do when nursing!

Wow! I had no idea our culture was so uptight about breastfeeding until I watched that video.

^Ditto. We have some serious hang ups in our culture.

That was beautiful! I loved the music too. Nice contrast between infants and toddlers and I thought the slinging momma was cool too.

in re: to the mom looking young I was 20 when i had ds and people always asked if I was the "nanny", ugh until i breastfed him! haha. anyways, oh our culture here in the usa is so so crazy, we would probably censor an ad like that saying it was "lwed and pornographic". it really is so very sad.

^Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if people called it incestuous like some people on youtube.

A little off topic. I was looking at youtube vids from other Spanish-speaking countries. It seems like they nurse longer, quite a few into toddlerhood. I even saw one lady nurse her daughter (2 1/2) on Latin American TV, and it was no big deal. Go Latin America!

I love the ad, but I also wish that they didn't have to be made. I wish that it was the norm and that people didn't have to think about it and didn't have to see a public service ad to consider breastfeeding their children. Maybe someday, this will be the case, especially if more people breastfeed their children, because the next generation will have all been breastfed and will think it's normal.

Beautiful! And I'm so glad they included the twiddling! I sometimes feel like the only mama out there who allows (and doesn't mind) twiddling.

Can someone tell me what the words are to the song, and their meaning in English? My almost 3 yr olds love to watch this one .
^I think some of the posters translated it.

Click "more" beside the video and scroll down, and you'll see the words.

The mom is saying sleep sleep little black one I love (duerme duerme negrito) or the devil will eat your leg (y si negro no se duerme, viene el diablo blanco...le come(he eats) la patita (the leg) ). She also says little one will get many things if he sleeps (muchas cosas para ti). I think. lol I"m sure some people in here know more Spanish and can translate more.

How beautiful! I wish we had ads like that here. DH watched it and he asked why we only have formula ads here and not ads for breastfeeding - and I told him it's because breastfeeding doesn't make anyone rich.

There are some translations that are pretty accurate for the most part in the comments.
