We're all sick now

I had noticed that two people at work were sick and had missed time . . . yesterday I had a scratchy throat and started to worry. Dd's nose started running. Dh is useless and cranky.

So, we're all sick/getting sick. I feel worse today and dd has been up all night crying and fussing. Dh is . . . even crankier than yesterday.

This is really bad. It's obviously going to get worse. Not what I was asking for before, but how about some "stay put" vibes until we're all through this? The people who missed work said yesterday they were so sick they laid in bed for four days . . . must be the flu that's going around. Everyone seems to have it and according to what other people have told me, they're handing out masks at the entrance door to the ER & the ER is full full full.

Please send healing and stay put vibes. I can't have this baby while I have the flu, or while dh & dd have it. This is not good!

I'm due in a few days, but I would happily go an extra week or so pregnant to avoid giving birth while we're all horribly ill.

I am right there with you and feeling awful. I am on day 5 now and was hoping it would be better today. Think I just keep trading old symptoms for new ones. Certainly don't wish this on anyone, esp another March mama! Hope it clears up and out for all of you soon.

I'm SS!! We had this 2 weeks ago and it lasted all of 7 days. It will be 2 weeks on Thursday since I came down with it and honestly yesterday was my first really *good* day. I was so worried our LO would come in the midst of the illness. I hope your LO hangs out a little bit until you all can get well.

Sending get better and stay put vibes your way!!

Thanks everyone. Nichole & Melissa, I'm sorry you've been sick too.

The light amongst the gloom though is that my tooth doesn't hurt today! Hooray for small wonders!

Oh yuck! I hope you can feel better! Make sure you stay really well hydrated! Stay put baby!

If your symptoms are still ramping up you can do a lot to boost your immune system and shorten the length of your virus. I was able to head my flu off completely! I loaded my body up with Vit. C, garlic and echinacea tincture. DH & ds both got sick but I was able to significantly lessen dh's symptoms with the same treatment. Ds virus was already well established by the time we realized what was going on so we pretty much just had to ride it out with him. I hope you can get some rest and heal up very quickly!

I'm already doing Vit C and an immune support supplement my chiro recommended. I'll try to get some garlic and . . . echinacea in there too! I really do think that stuff helps to some degree at least. Thanks for the recommendations, I hadn't heard of echinacea before.

If you can find echinacea tincture your body will absorb it more readily than with the pills (pills are easier to find). But the pills will help too.

I hope you feel better soon. I am confident that you will be over this before the baby comes. Hang in there.

I'm much sicker today and so is dd, even though I did lots of immune system boosting. I hope it keeps this from getting too bad.

I'm going to leave work at noon (or sooner) and go home and lie down. I feel awful and can barely keep my head up!

Hang in there! I think I am several days ahead of you in being sick and am on day 5 and just now starting to feel like there is a chance I may survive (probably not what you wanted to hear, but I am alive). I can't sleep well at all and have been waking up every hour at night - you sleeping any better? If it's not from being sick, it's from all the acid that is making me gag and then cough. Had a major meltdown at 4 am where I just sobbed and sobbed. I am so frustrated that I feel bad, can't get anything done and am not looking forward to labor, but rather just trying to keep this baby in until some of the germs clear out. Thinking of you over here......

I love echinacea, BUT I believe it is contraindicated in pregnancy. (Which is why I haven't taken it.) Please check with your ob/mw and look it up before you take it.

I have the nasty cold that's going around. We had the flu a few weeks ago... not fun!

Get well vibes headed your way!!!!

Sorry you're sick. We all have it, too. I don't think it's the flu for us, just a really bad cold. Kids all had fevers last week, and slept for a couple of days. Then they were better, except for a bit of a cough. Dh and I came down with it the beginning of this week. I felt horrible Monday and Tuesday, but a bit better by Wednesday, and better still today. Just got a horrible cough and stuffy nose now.

As for supplements, I did a lot of reading on echinacea, and it looks to be fine for pregnancy, especially once you're out of your first trimester. Garlic, on the other hand, can act as a blood thinner, so I'd be really careful taking it this late in the game. I'm sure it's fine if you have it in food, but I personally wouldn't take a garlic supplement at this point. My two cents, lol.

Hope you feel better soon!

I'm ss you are feeling so yucky. Rest is about the only thing that is going to help. I spent 7 days in bed and lounging around the house doing NOTHING. Rest, rest, rest. Fluids, fluids, fluids.

Many ((((((hugs)))))) and I hope you feel better soon!

Wow-so many sick

I'm just getting over it myself--my daughter is in and out of getting it--husband had it awhile ago. Here are some suggestions for those who are getting sick:

1) Take garlic
2) Echinacea-but not tons--my midwife said 3 cups of tea a day or equivalent should be fine
3) Oscillo as soon as you notice flu symptoms--it seriously lessons the time--I was only sick two days. (fingers crossed-I think I'm over it)

I believe our bodies will know when it's right to give birth--my midwife did, however, say that you're more likely to go into labor when you're sick because of all the prostaglandins--which is why I think it's so important to rest, rest, rest, and drink lots of fluids!

Good luck everyone!
