Department of Peace

Hello. The following link tells how we can help support proposed legislation to establish a Department of Peace within the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government. I think it's a wonderful idea whose time has come.

"The time for peace is now. At the dawn of a new millennium, there is no better time to review age old challenges with new thinking that peace is not only the absence of violence, but the presence of a higher evolution of human awareness with respect, trust and integrity toward humankind. Our founding fathers recognized that peace was one of the highest duties of the newly organized free and independent states. But too often, we have overlooked the long-term solution of peace for instant gratification of war. This continued downward spiral of violence must stop to ensure that future generations will live in peace and harmony." -Congressman Dennis Kucinich

Marlena??? Did you read the link? It surely does not come "from" the Bush admin, rather, something *we* can support to bring about.

Will it pass? I highly doubt it. (perhaps this is what you're saying M)

But, maybe it will get 5 minutes of discussion on the airwaves and around our tables..............................

Thank you Els' three ones.

I guess this topic is better suited for the spirituality forum.

"People sense we are at a time of amazing change, and with change comes opportunities for both breakthrough and breakdown. If we do nothing, breakdown is the most probable course that the future will reflect. Breakthrough will take conscious effort. We can invoke the future we want." -Marianne Williamson

I often wonder why it's ok to be cynical about everything except cynicism? :
