Im heading the the doctor in an hour, but Ive had a really sore throat and lots of mucus since saturday. Im just concerned that it may be strep, or another illness that can effect the baby. And what about taking antibiotics this early in pregnancy (Im 4 weeks 3 days today). Help please?

I think I have strep, too...
I am just gargling lots and it's soothing my throat.
I don't want to take antibiotics ...

Let me know what your doc says!

Your immune system is lowered during pregnancy, but your little one is well protected from most things, especially this early because nothing can pass across the placenta yet. I would try to stay away from antibiotics though and dose up on a good probiotic and lots of garlic!

I think I'm getting sick too, and I agree with the PP, try to stay away from antibiotics and go for more natural remedies.

I am totally anti-antibiotics. The PA took a culture, no strep. I told her if I wasnt prego I wouldnt have gone to the doctor, but I just wanted to make sure the baby wouldnt be effected, and get rid of an infection if I had one. She said she could give me a script for an antibiotic, but not to take it now. She advised against the anti-b bc it will kill my good bacteria, which helps build the immune system, and if I kill the good bacteria, bad bacteria and yeast can invade the body!!! Can you believe that a western medically trained PA told me this! I was so happy to hear that finally good info is being passed on in medical practices. Or, at least in my md's office.
