newborn size for longies?

I'm expecting in late October, and I lucked across some very soft wool sweaters that are gender neutral and are begging me to make them into sweaterpants (longies)... My first was born in August, so I have no clue what size to make them for a newborn. DD was 7lbs, and 19.5 inches, so not supersmall, but not huge. Who knows what her waist or inseam was at that point
I've tried searching for measurements, but no luck- anyone?

Do you have a pair of newborn pants kicking around? That would be good starting point.

Nope
A few people around me have given birth, so I've passed along all of dd's newborn stuff. And I never had newborn-sized pants, just sleepers and t-shirts...

I wouldn't think the inseam would be an issue, I just cuff mine if they are too long. If you want them to last any amout of time I wouldn't go smaller than a 14" waist and 15" rise, but thats just me. The newborn fleece pants I have that are made by Carters (not a diaper cover)are a 14" waist, 13" rise and 5" inseam. Hope that helps.
