Skin Deep database...what is the highest number you feel safe using?

Just curious...a lot of things I have are 3's and 4's, so I'm wondering how high others feel comfortable going?

Here's a link in case you need to take a peek: Skin Deep Database

I've never seen that before, thank you!

Now that I have taken a peek at it, 4 would be tops for me. Most of the stuff I use don't go higher than 2

I use some 4s.

I use their numbers as a general guideline and if I think I'd like to use a product with an orange code, I check the ingredients. They don't distinguish between uses of ingredients in giving them safety ratings AFAIK. So with products containing alcohol as an ingredient, the safety data includes liver damage, neurotoxicity, etc. I am not so worried about using small amounts of alcohol in a skincare product.

So if it's green, I'm happy and if it's not, I make up my own mind on a case-by-case basis. I try really hard to avoid things noted as endocrine disruptors.

Mavery that is true...the ingredients may make a difference between an okay orange product and a bad orange product.

Thanks guys

I try to stick with products rated no higher than 4. It's hard to find them in some categories (oil-free moisturizer with SPF of at least 15, for instance).

The database is a bit outdated, though. Some newer products aren't listed.
