Anyone use Diva Cup with an IUD?

On the instructions the manufacturer says to contact my physician before use. I tried and got a flat, "don't use it," with no other explanation as to why or how great the risk of expulsion is relative to tampon use, etc. I'm wondering if anyone here has used this with an IUD and what your experience has been. I went ahead and got it. I'm wearing it now - comfortable and no leaks. Just wondering if I should take this risk more seriously.

I use a diva cup and have an IUD. I'm not pregnant, but I didn't know about the warning... So I'm curious to hear what responses you get.

I'm not using the diva cup, but the keeper, so I figure the risks are quite similar. I asked my doctor and he laughed. so. hard. He told me he almost had to ask for help to remove IUDs, so that there was no way my keeper would "suck it out".

I have the mirena IUD though, and I think he mentioned that it was harder to remove, so maybe a copper IUD would not be the same.

I have the copper T IUD and have started using my Diva again after having a lot of frustrations with it. I have had troubles with it leaking, but this was my first month with it after about 6 months and so far so good.

I don't know/haven't heard anything about them not being compatable. When I'm ready to have it taken out, a doc will have to do it.

I'd be interested in seeing other responses too.

I used to use my diva with my IUD. When taking it out once, I swept my finger around the IUD string and brought the extra string out with the Diva. I had some string hanging out of my vagina. I thought I pulled it partially out. I had it checked out and it just turns out that my midwife leaves quite a bit of string left which is usually wound around my cervix. I didn't use it much after that. Mostly just because I bleed very, very little, if at all now.

My midwife said she had never thought of the risks of Diva and IUD users.

I think that the risk lies in acidently tugging the string and pulling the IUD out of place when removing the cup. When my IUD was removed, you'd better believe I felt it, so I doubt that you could tug that thing out by it catching on the rim of the Diva Cup and not notice.

I've been using mine with a copper IUD for at least 6 months now. My midwife also couldn't see how it would be a problem when I asked her.

I used my Diva cup for 1 cycle with a copper IUD in place and to be honest (and this is before I had heard that you probably shouldn't use the DC with an IUD) I felt kind of a weird tugging sensation that came from roughly where my IUD is when I removed my DC each time.

Could just be a coincidence, but I didn't want to take any more chances and have shelved my DC until my IUD is removed for TTC this summer.

It happened to me! I had a Mirena in just a few days and I was taking my Diva cup out in the shower. I guess I didn't break the seal all the way, because when I pulled the cup out, I felt some strings. Not long after, I started to get nauseated and shaky and started having strong cramps. I got an emergency appointment to get it taken out - it was pretty much dangling off my cervix!

I have a new Mirena now (put it a few months later in November). I haven't had a period since the one I had when I got it put in, so I haven't had the chance to decide whether or not to try it again (not to mention it's in a box somewhere since we moved). I will probably try, but be extra careful to break the suction.
