Jahmari Laurance finally blessed our lives with his presence.

Feb 28 @ 12:14am
weighing 7#2oz and 19"

{38 hour labor and then a cesarean birth followed my a wound that didn't want to heal and I am finally stitched shut and healing well. Doing reiki every morning in the hopes that it heals this time and I don't have to go back to having my wound 'packed' everyday...}

His head was presenting to the side- probably because of all the extra amnio fluid i had.

Midwife checked me in her office and I was 6 cm- she couldn't believe it because 'i was not acting 6 cm'

My Mom and I left the mw office for the hospital, my doula met us there. (she had been at my house 5 hours the night before keeping me company while i labored to 6 cm at home- waiting for the 4-1-1 pattern.) Hot shower, hot bath, bed with a heating blanket- puke and then poop- over and over from 10 am tuesday until i went to the mw at 3pm wed.

Once at the hospital my mw and doula worked as a team and tried everything to get him to straighten out. the contractions were nothing compared to the pain of when they tried to move him. hands all over- inside me and outside and my body was already so sore from the hours of labor.

My doula was amazing and kept the homeopathic remedies coming for everything from tiredness, nausea, arnica for the tissue trauma, etc.

I couldn't progress past 8 cm because of the angle that his head was presenting. When his heartrate began to decelerate with contractions I made the decision to get a spinal and the c-section. The surgeon did a double layer uterine suture (helps prevent uterine rupture in subsequent pregnancies and labors- most surgeons do it in one layer)

My mw felt so bad that I didn't get to have a vaginal birth but I was so exhausted and just wanting to have my healthy baby that I don't care at all. This was our first adventure together and was the best experience of my life. I was stronger than I ever have had to be. I am a Mother! The joy and love that I feel for him is indescribable.

I am head over heels in love.

He has been nursing since we came out of surgery and is a natural- when I can manage to get him in the right position before he nods off. Not allowed out of bed yet so the nurses have been changing his meconium diapers. They are even cloth diapering him!

He had his checkup today and gained 3 ounces over his birth weight (having gone down after birth of course) and grew 3/4"

He is breastfeeding like he has done this before.

His father is eagerly awaiting our arrival home on March 17- provided my wound decides to heal this time around...
