Spotting question

I have been spotting on and off since Monday night after a BM. My midwife had me come in for b/w to check my progesterone, but otherwise doesn't seem too concerned. It started out pink Monday night and has pretty much gone to just brown. I think I've come to terms with the fact that it could be normal, but was just wondering what spotting experiences other women have had in pregnancy. Thanks!

I had pink and brown spotting with ds... for me it was associated with these really horrible attacks of gas (which, in retrospect, were caused by gallstones... live and learn!), but it still freaked me out. Everything obviously was fine, since he's running around and eating right now.

I just started spotting, very faintly, and am doing my best to not be alarmed. I'd be less concerned if I had had implantation spotting, but I didn't. It does make me feel better to hear that your midwife wasn't concerned.

I just got off the phone with my midwife. I got the results of my progesterone and my level was 35. She wanted to see at least 20, so I'm pretty darn happy with the result. She said the spotting is probably coming from my cervix. She actually sounded happier on the phone, so I believe her this time!

Good to hear your levels are high!!! I read recently that something like 40% of all pregnancies involve spotting. It said that brown/very light pink was normal and no cramping associated.

I panicked, walked a block to the nearest birthing center (there are advantages to working on a medical campus), and met with a midwife. She was moderately reassuring, told me that it sounds like implantation bleeding to her, and sent me for a blood test. She's hesitant to order a progesterone test for me right now but I am getting a serum hcg.

Frustratingly, though, she insisted on the date from the obstetric wheel rather than my self-report of when I ovulated, so she thinks I'm at 6 weeks rather than 4&1/2. This is what I get for going to a hospital midwife rather than a homebirth one, maybe. Now I'm freshly worried that I'll call tomorrow for my results & that she'll indicate that it's bad news when my levels might be fine, just because of the dates.

I had a little spotting with my DD at 5 weeks - no cramping, just spotting. And clearly all was fine (she's over 2!).

It's very very common.

I just noticed some very light brown spotting a little bit ago. I had it with DS around this time, too, so I guess I shouldn't be too concerned. I was hoping I wouldn't have it this time since it just gives me something else to worry about, ya know? Oh well...as long as it's not red or heavy then I'll try not to freak out.

Yeah, I would take the "normal" morning sickness over spotting anyday! It seems to have stopped now, we'll see!

Not sure if any of you are on RRL (red raspberry leaf) tea, it's a common ingredient in pregnancy tea. But it gave me cramping and spotting throughout my whole pregnancy (whenever I'd try it!) last time. Just a FYI. Some people say it calms their uterus down... it makes mine hyperactive. So I'll stay away from it until maybe I'm in labor

Hm. I am. I started with it Tuesday night. Spotting started on Wednesday.

Maybe I should back off and see what happens?

I would absolutely take a break and see if it stops the spotting. IMO midwives should warn about this and it should be more common knowledge.

MommaGreenBean, I stopped drinking the tea when you suggested that it might be related to the spotting. It's been almost 24 hours now and I haven't spotted again yet.

Starkyld- Great to hear! I think mine was just late implatation or something, hopefully it stays far, far away and yours too!
