Well, I'm just thinking about how many women thinking, "it'll be too hard" may have got some help from this, or decided to give it a try. Every little bit helps. yk?

Was this today's episode? Looks like it...
I didn't see the whole episode so I missed this part. I did see a clip before commercial where a woman was saying that breastfeeding was like having her nipples in a food processor

I love Trya and I wish I could've seen the full episode. It looks like the Dr. did a good job of addressing the issue with pain.

love the very last thing they said: feed till satisfaction on one side then let them feed on the other. Not 10 min then switch, etc.

holy cow. it was just my first observation. explain to me why a doll that was used to demonstrate how to breastfeed needed an artificial nipple hanging off its wrist? i'm just sayin'.

I think this was an old video. The date said November 2007. But she is doing an upcoming episode on the benefits of extended nursing. It was taped yesterday, and a good friend of mine and LLLeader is being featured. I'm so excited. She's a very hilarious, vibrant woman, who will definitely be a great advocate for extended nursing. I will post as soon as I know when it will be on. I would guess it would be sometime in the next few weeks, but I'm not sure how far ahead they tape.

I have to give Tyra kudos for being more open than a lot of talk shows. So many times the hosts are just out to make jokes and reinforce their preconcieved ideas. She actually seemed to want to know answers to her questions and I give her credit for that. I 'm looking foward to the extended breastfeeding episode... THAT should be interesting :grin

I watched that episode yesterday! The woman said she's not a fan of pacis and they threw it away lol! They said later that every grandmother should skip buying the packs of diapers and pay for a lactation consultant instead *clap* !

My friend who was about to give up breast feeding despite my pleas watched this show and called me (she was the one who sent me the link) and decided to give it another go. WOO HOO! Who says tv doesn't have its good points!

That was a great video clip! I don't think I've ever seen a talk show host do an episode like that, how great!

Yay Tyra! I couldn't see other talk show hostesses being such willing participants. I'm glad the Doc made it clear that breastfeeding is not supposed to hurt.

It's not supposed to but I'm glad it was mentioned. A lot of women DO feel pain for the first little while (a few weeks to a month or more) and that's normal for them -- happens with every baby. I'm glad that I was told by a mother of 5 (a nurse at the hospital) that my pain was normal FOR ME and that it would soon subside. Every other nurse told me that I was latched incorrectly, my nipples were too sensitive etc etc etc)

Go Tyra! I'm not a huge fan, but lots of young women are. I'm glad to see her promoting BF.

Now, on a separate note, she really needs to get rid of the wig and go natural with the hair already.

Oh... such sad news. My support of Tyra ended about 10 minutes ago. My friend who was on her ebf show yesterday just emailed to say that it was a complete ambush! It is the opposite of support for ebf. She, and another mama, were made to look like complete freaks. They kept cutting and doing it over to try to catch them saying something weird. It is horrible. She's now dreading the episode's airing. I've asked her permission to share the whole story, so if she says its ok, I'll definitely share. Why can't any of these talk shows be geniune?!!! It makes me sick.

I saw this part. The person "teaching" her to breastfeed told her that pacifiers were not good, so Tyra pulled it off the baby and literally threw it away.

I only saw some of the segment. I wasn't overly thrilled with it as they focused a lot on pain. One woman said that it felt like her nipples were in a food processor. I didn't watch the whole thing though so maybe they addressed this later.

Oh no!! That terrible. Lets hope the end result isn't so bad!

I was watching an episode of some talk show called the Greg Something show and he had a lady on to talk about EC....They all treated her like she was a crazy freak!!
