Adult teeth whitening: concerns and questions.

Hi all.

I am curious and concerned about adult tooth whitening methods.

I am unhappy with the color of my teeth. But I am concerned about possible risks of whitening methods. I don't feel chlorine is safe. I don't want the super-blinding-Hollywood-white, I just want to look better because my teeth make me sad.

I'm concerned about safety issues with chlorine, using newer methods without knowing about long term effects, wondering whether whitening my teeth will damage or weaken teeth/mouth/gums or my health otherwise,
or will whitening methods react with fillings I have? (yes, mercury.)

But the color of my teeth makes me sad.

Does anybody know stuff?

And how long do the methods last?
