Homemade Pesticides

I've been looking up info on Homemade Pesticides and I was wondering if these really work. We have ear wigs all in our house in the summer time. Last year I about went crazy. I've seen some recipes for some garlic, hot pepper, dishwashing detergent sprays. Right now I'm mainly looking for one to use outside of the house but I will also be needing something for the garden later on in the year. Thanks.

I make the garlic hot pepper tea.

I also use diatomaceous earth around the garden and the house it solves are annual earwig invasion and takes care of other soft bodied bugs

I use wood ash on all my cabbage and brocali, and epson salts on my tomato's.

I know this doesnt answer your question but I also use nasturiums marigolds and basil for companion planting, and,the only bug I still deal with is the squash beetle

I find most of those work fairly well but have to be re aplied after every rain. The best organic pest deterant I've found is a barrior. There are light wait cloth row covers you can get inexpensivly. They prevent the bugs from landing on your plants and laying eggs. They can also be re used for several years.

Not very pretty in a flower garden but very useful when growing veggies.

I've been doing some reading on permaculture... could you figure out what eats earwigs then plant the things that attract that?
