simple bunny crochet need help

can someone who actually know what they are doing help me ... I want to make some of these for my son's K class instead of sending candy... I don't want to have to buy pom-poms or wiggly eyes or even glue the felt on the ears and nose, was hoping that I could do it all in yarn.

Here's the patterns I'm working from

I've done my circle and the head and ears (I like the ears from the 2nd pattern better and I tried to slip stitch on around the body circle to add the tail, it just looks like a big glob of gloop on his rear... How can I do it so it looks halfway decent?

For the eyes I thought I'd just just thread a needle and sew something on, maybe a french knot or an X like crossstitch. If I don't put anything for the pink ears that's fine.

Does anyone know how/where I should be putting the tail and with what type and how many stitches (is that what they are called in crochet? stitches? loops?)

How about trying bobble stitch for the tail?

I think black embroidery floss x's for eyes would be sweet.

Take a pic when you're finished and show us--they look so cute!

Super cute...now I'm wondering if I'd have the gumption to make these for ds's class, too!

I hate to try to glue pompons...they never stick. You can make your own pompons out of the same yarn you're using, muss up the ends, and then attach it directly onto the bunny without even cutting your yarn off first. That's what I would definitely do.

I second the black embroidery floss (or even regular black yarn) for the eyes.

I now have 18 bunnies with no eyes noses or tails. (and I need to thread the tails of thread into the stitching) I tried the bobble stitch but just couldn't do it, need some more practice, so I just went on around with my stitches... figuring something would come up before next week... I'll try the make your own pom poms and see how that goes. I'm so proud of my progress I'll post picts once they are done.
