help with boxed cereal?

I just started reading Nourishing Traditions, and I read there (I think it was there - it might have been in the Defense of Food book) that most boxed cereals - even the ones with whole grains - have been so processed that the nutrition from the grain is basically nada. Is this true? Are there exceptions?

I'd like to know
1. are there boxed cereals that are legitimately wholesome and yummy?
2. are there other options for a quick breakfast (not hot) for kids?

I'm not talking about the toddler and preschooler age - for them, I just stop buying the boxed cereal and they eventually deal. I'm talking about the 10 and 13 year olds, who are not going to abandon their Special K quietly It needs to taste yummy.

TIA!!

There's some info on cereals here:

Pretty much all 'puffed' cereals are bad. The best is your hot cereal that's been soaked properly.

Your compromise might be a rolled grain cereal like this 7 Grain from Wheat Montana, in milk and with added sweetener or fruit. But since it's not soaked, you still have a significant amount of phytates in it. There are recipes on this board for a TF granola that's soaked but DD isn't letting me search atm hehe.

I hope this helps!

Food for life makes an Ezekiel sprouted grain cereal. I've only tried the Cinnamon Raisin one. It's not too bad.
