Ok, I know we have the guess thread for our guesses about when our babies will be born, but I thought it would be fun for us to share our reasoning behind the guesses. Obviously none of us know for sure (although I guess those with scheduled c-sections have a pretty good idea), but I thought the following questions might get us started:

- How many weeks along do you think you'll be when you deliver?
- Would you be really surprised if you delivered at some other point?
- How many weeks along would you like to be when you deliver?
- When were your previous children born (if applicable)?
- When were you born (if you know)?
- What factors do you think influence your guess?

- How many weeks along do you think you'll be when you deliver?

I'm guessing 39 weeks. My first was born at 38 weeks, and my twins at 37 weeks (but they were twins, so that's not particularly early). For some reason I think this pregnancy will go a little longer... Maybe it's because my twin pregnancy lasted a little longer than I expected.

- Would you be really surprised if you delivered at some other point?

I would be shocked if I carry longer than 40 weeks. So shocked, in fact, that I am trying to prepare myself for the idea just in case it does happen. With my first I was shocked the other way around. I thought he'd be born at 42 weeks, and couldn't believe it when I had a baby a full month before I thought I would (my entire labor was only 4 hours, too, so it was quite a mental adjustment to make very quickly).

- How many weeks along would you like to be when you deliver?

39 sounds pretty good to me. Cale and Dillon's birthday is 8/28, mine 9/5, and my husband's 9/19, so 9/12 is good spacing-wise. I guess I'd rather the baby not be born on 9/11.

- When were your previous children born (if applicable)?

38 weeks (singleton) and 37 weeks (twins).

- When were you born (if you know)?

42 weeks.

- What factors do you think influence your guess?

When I was born influenced my guess my first time around. When my babies were born influence my current guess. But I'm also influenced by the fact that everyone says third births are different. I've decided what's going to make this one different is it's going to be later than expected. Given my first two births were lovely, I don't want anything else to be particularly different. I also think I always try to expect to give birth later than I really will so I don't end up getting impatient.

Ds1 was born half an hour shy of 42 weeks. Ds2 was born at 41 weeks, 5 days. So, I plan to go at least 41 weeks, but not counting on anything until 42 weeks.

Hm probably 41 or even 42.
Would you be really surprised if you delivered at some other point?
No, my guess is just a hunch.
How many weeks along would you like to be when you deliver?
Between 38 and 40 sounds ideal to me.
When were your previous children born (if applicable)?
First time mom
When were you born (if you know)?
I know I was born a week or two before my due date - around 38-39 weeks. But I was the third baby for my mom.
What factors do you think influence your guess?
As a first timer, I realize there's a strong likelihood of me going over my due date so I'm trying to mentally prepare for it ahead of time.

Ooh, this is silly, but just reading this thread is making me excited for that special time when you're 37+ weeks pregnant and could have a new baby at any time. There's nothing like that first realization that you're in labor and going to have a baby soon! I'm actually getting teary eyed just thinking about it. Probably between 41.5 and 42 weeks.

- Would you be really surprised if you delivered at some other point?
I'm not sure but I'm trying to keep my mind open to the fact that it could be anytime and that this pregnancy could be totally different than the last 2 but I guess if I'm being honest with myself, I'll probably be shocked if it is much different from that.

- How many weeks along would you like to be when you deliver?
I don't have a real big preference but anything not preterm would be great. 40wks would be nice because those last 2+ weeks were pretty uncomfortable for me.

- When were your previous children born (if applicable)?
first was induced at 42+4 and second came on his own at 42 weeks.

- When were you born (if you know)?
I was taken by elective repeat c-section around 39 wks

- What factors do you think influence your guess?
nothing else that I can think of....just my 2 previous pregnancies. I've never "dropped" or dilated before labor and I carry very high.

I just got a good chuckle thinking back to my first pregnancy when I hit that point at 37 weeks and thought..."OMG, it could happen any time now...any second I could go into labor!!!!!!" Meanwhile, THIRTYNINE DAYS LATER I still hadn't even so much as dilated at all - ROFL!!!!!!!!!!

I would say 37-38 weeks.

I will be surprised if I actually make it to 40 weeks. My sister had severe pre-e, so her kids came at 35ish weeks. I'm also high risk and on blood thinners, so my delivery will probably have to be managed somehow. I doubt nature will be allowed to take its course, at least completely.

- How many weeks along would you like to be when you deliver?

39-40. For some reason, I'd rather deliver in September than August. Who knows why I care!!!!!

- When were your previous children born (if applicable)?

First-timer here!

Induced 3 weeks early, but I was ready- 8+ pounds.

Not really if a little earlier or later (38-40 weeks) but i would be really surpsrised to go over 40 weeks.

1st- 1 day before due date
2nd- 7 days before due date

13 days over due date

Mostly my first 2 births

Between 35 and 38, I know baby will be born in Aug so those are the weeks it can happen, If I had to guess around 36.5

I wouldn't be shocked if earlier although not happy of course, won't get past 40 no way

Anything past 34 weeks and I'm a happy bunny

39 weeks but should have been here earlier, was in distress since 35 weeks

They claim I was 1 day late but how sure my mother was on dates is another story, I was 5lbs

- What factors do you think influence your guess?
My first had IUGR and was in distress, I also have a weak cervix so getting to 34 weeks is my goal! After 35ish baby won't have too much room and can lead to distress, they won't let me go past 40 since my first got stuck due to the IUGR causing a larger head.
I'm only 4.10 an although they say you can't make a baby too big, you can I promise, and mine ran out of room

I have noooo idea, really. No previous births to go on, and both DH and I were induced early for reasons other than health. I don't care too much as long as baby is healthy. Sooner is nicer than later, because I'm already anxious to meet the little one, but not so soon as to be problematic!

I'm going to guess 36 or 37.

I would be really surprised if I went past 40 weeks.

I'd be thrilled to make it to 38 or 39 weeks!

DD was born at 37 weeks after PTL that started at 27 weeks. I was in L&D 8 times between 27 weeks and 36 weeks and took terbutaline the entire time.

- When were you born (if you know)?
I was born at 42 weeks. My mom was a twin and was born at 39 weeks. Women in my family have a long, long history of going "overdue". And then there was me

- What factors do you think influence your guess?
Second baby. I will be surprised if I go longer than I did with my DD. I will also be surprised if I don't have the same problems I had last time. I also think it will be harder to rest since I have a toddler to wrangle. But who knows... you never know!

38-39 weeks. Everyone in my family was born in August, so this baby is a shoo-in for a late August birth. Plus, my dad (who just passed away last month) had his birthday on the 31st, so I'm aiming for around then...

Yes, but if that's when the baby wants to come out, then oh well...

38-39 weeks

I was two weeks early - Mom was due in early Sept., and since my pregnancy is going exactly like hers did, I'm assuming that Indigo will be early too...

- What factors do you think influence your guess?
The fact that all our family birthdays are in August is my biggest influence. That and the fact that I'd like to have the baby on my dad's birthday - because if it's a boy, we're naming him after my dad - it's a nice symmetry.

I'm thinking 41 or 42 weeks.

I have to deliver between 36 and 42 weeks if I want a HB.

DD was born at 41 weeks 6 days (after having my membranes stripped twice)

I was born at 42 weeks (induction)

Both my younger siblings were born at or around 42 weeks as well.

At 40 weeks I'm putting a cookie in my panties to try to speed things up. It can't be any worse than castor oil.

- When were you born (if you know)?- All I know is that I was late. My mama was apparently riding a bike around the neighborhood as fast as shee could trying to go into labor!
What factors do you think influence your guess? Mostly last pregnancy, a little wishful thinking, and the fact that my sister and I had similar first pregnancies and hopefully second is the same (she delivered my neice right around 40 weeks)

I guess I am just thinking that this baby will be somewhere inbetween my early DS and my late DD.
