Our new little love, Zelda, arrived earlier than expected Friday morning, wonderfully healthy at 7#10oz and 20 inches long.
We were ready to leave int he morning for our cesarean birth, as she hadn't yet flipped on her own, when I awoke to the bubbly feeling of my water breaking around 2:30 am! So, she did choose her birthday after all, and she was certainly ready! About 40 minutes later we arrived in L&D and I was nearly 8 cm, much to everyone's amazement ( I did read Hypnobirthing, and the breathing techniques worked wonderfully - they weren't really rushing until I mentioned feeling the need to use the bathroom. . .). Unfortuately they weren't able to get the spinal in (disc spaces too small, ready to push the baby!), and they put me under general anesthesia, though briefly. - right before the surgery began, not yet an hour and a half after labor began I was fully dilated and ready to push - the doc said she was sorry she hadn't done more vaginal breech deliveries because it looked like I could do this easily!).
So, our "chosen one", Zelda, arrived quickly into daddy's arms in the early light of day Friday morning. She is amazing! She nurses well, and my milk is already here! I couldn't ask for anything more! I did talk them into letting me come home early, and we are settling in nicely.
This has been a long road, and despite my worries (she did choose her birthday, and she wasn't going to turn in labor!!!), we have a healthy baby girl who is such a blessing to us all!
