Knitting question

Thread Starter
I'm just learning to knit...I have a book and all I've done is cast on...my question is: When you begin, which end of the yarn should you be working with....the short end, long end, or should each end be the same length? I'm making a scarf if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Use the long end to wrap around your needle when making stitches. Hope I helped........

By long end do you mean the part of the yarn still attached to the ball or skein? Forgive me if I'm not understanding - I work with the long end, still attached to the skein, and just leave the short (10 or so inches) tail hanging on the other end of the row of cast on stitches. This tail just hangs out until I'm done with the project, and then I use a blunt needle to sort of weave it in to hide it.

Yes, sorry for the confusion, the end still attached to the ball or skein....sounds like you have it figured out, just need some reassurance....
