Let's talk coupon clipping (for groceries).

My mother was an avid coupon clipper, and I want to do it too! I always hear stories of people getting a lot of stuff for just pennies or dollars, and want to learn how! I don't get a newspaper or anything, so I'd have to find them online.

Where's a great spot to get online grocery coupons? Are they store specific, or through the manufacturer?

There are both types of coupons, but you may want to rethink the not getting a newspaper thing! We've discussed this before, but I just wanted to direct you to www.hotcouponworld.com under where it says "completely new to couponing." Find the couponing 101 thread and read it.

All sorts of online printables... just goggle it.

Some of the major ones are:
http://redplum.com/
http://coupons.smartsource.com
http://www.couponbug.com/couponweb/CBLanding.aspx
http://www.coupons.com
http://colemannatural.com/
http://www.organicvalley.coop/coupons/

That being said, the newspaper is where I get 99% of the coupons I use. I get a subscription for the Sunday paper alone and only for the coupons. It's a small price to pay in the long run.

If you want to use online coupons, be sure to call your store and make sure they accept them. Some don't.

I'm a coupon newbie too and i have been hanging out at hotcouponworld this past month, and I have learned many things, but I still have a way to go. If you want to get a newspaper, sam's club sells them for .50 on sundays if you have a membership, also, the dollar tree has them for 1.00. If you don't want to get one, maybe you could ask around and see if your friends/family have the inserts they don't use. I got an introductory 6 month newspaper in my area for thurs-sunday just for .99 a week, so you may want to check the deals w/ your newspaper, and honestly I have saved way more than .99 a week so it is worth it!

I just discovered www.thecouponclippers.com (via another thread in this very forum, LOL), and it is AWESOME.

Instead of paying $1.50 for the Sunday paper, and clipping out maybe three or four coupons out of the whole thing, I go to this site and order as many manufacturer's coupons as I want of any particular kind, usually paying five or ten cents for each one. (Considering that each coupon is worth more than that, it's a veritable steal-- especially if the store you use douples or triples your coupons).

For example, I just ordered 10 coupons for Eggland's Best eggs. Each coupon is worth 35 cents off a dozen. I paid 5 cents per coupon, for a grand total of 50 cents. Using just one coupon at Kroger more than paid for all of them, since they double my coupons-- with one coupon, I got 70 cents off.

Some caveats: they require a miminum order of $3 per order; for some coupons, you can only get a certain number (i.e. you're limited to buying, say, three); and conversely, for some coupons, you have to get a *minimum* amount of, say, three. (The numbers are different depending on what brand you pick-- I'm just using three as an example.)

But their administrative fee is just 50 cents (very reasonable IMO), and the shipping is simply what it costs to mail it, nothing more (I paid 58 cents). Also, my order arrived super quick. These are not internet coupons-- they're manufacturer's coupons that have been clipped from a Sunday paper insert, and they're mailed to you, not e-mailed. And no, I'm not associated with this site in any way-- I just really, really like it! (Uh, is it obvious? )

Ebay is another place to get coupons. You essentially are paying someone for their "time" to clip and send the coupons to you. I buy 1-2 lots of 100 coupons every week. It saves me a large amount of time as I don't have to hunt down newspapers and clip them. I match the coupons with the sales fliers and save a lot!

i normally go through the sale ads on sunday, and if there's something really good on sale, then i go on ebay, thecouponclippers, or thecouponmaster.com to get a bunch of coupons.

like this week's "hot" coupon is for $3 off the goodlife dog or cat food. its $4.19 a bag for cat food or $4.59 a bag of dog food at wegmans every day. one of my local stores has it on sale this week for $2.98 a bag, so its free (well, plus sales tax).

or, i got MIL a bunch of coupons for $2 off the *only* dog food her dog will eat. its over $4 a box and doesnt go on sale often, so its well worth it. i like getting the sunday paper so that i have an idea of what coupons are in there (like this one, since i dont look for it on sale). plus, there's others that i would only need 1 of.

afullcup.com has lots of printable coupons for target and food lion. they're coupons either emailed or put online by target or FL, but in a nice generator so that you can fit 4 on a page vs 1 and save paper.

I don't buy the Sunday paper either because if it's a good deal I wanna stock up! I only get one coupon with the paper.

I order all of mine on thecouponclippers.com and visit hotcouponworld every day!
