Having a bummer day

DH called today to let me know that he had misunderstood the new commission compensation plan for 2008 at his work and the $3000 bonus check he thought he was getting in April will be delayed until he starts averaging $500,000 a month in loans (he is a commercial loan officer).

We owe about $2800 in taxes in April so this means we will have to take out a loan to pay taxes.

I'm just so bummed out about this. We are working really hard to live within our means and pay down debt, this feels like a slap in the face.

DH's job just isn't going great right now and while I don't think he is at risk for being laid off or fired, I still can't help but to worry. Being pregnant doesn't help, it just makes me worry more.

We have a lot to be grateful for and eventually we will get that commission check and can pay off whatever debt we incur.

Just needed to vent..

That is tough mama. I'm sorry that the money isn't going to come in when expected, but glad to know that it will be there eventually for you guys. I totally hear you on being PG though, that makes things seem even worse than they might actually be.

Thanks, you are right being PG makes situations feel worse. I do work part time from home which is good but my income could never cover all of our bills.

DH hates that his job is causing this stress for me. He plans on being at work at 7:30AM tomorrow and starting to work very hard (its not like he is lazy now but there is room for improvement). I think today was a little bit of a wake up call which is good, blessing in disguise maybe?

Like I said, we have a lot to be grateful for. We own our home, we have food on the table every night, insurance, good families and we always manage to pay the bills, things could be "less tight" but in reality we do not struggle. This isn't the end of the world.

Although it's not the end of the world, it does sound like a very disappointing situation. I'm sorry

DH sent me an e-mail this morning saying he set up a meeting with his boss's boss this morning. He said he told him that he knows he has been struggling lately but that he is committed to doing better. The boss said that he really appreciated DH coming in and talking to him about it and gave him some pointers. I'm really proud of DH, its very hard for him to do stuff like that.
