Here's a bit of it:

It is NOT that cesarean section is safer for breech deliveries in this nation, it is that vaginal breech is more dangerous in this country. US hospital policy and procedure are killing more breech babies than their European counterparts.

And to remedy the situation, it’s been mandated that all babies in a breech presentation be delivered via cesarean section. This is despite the study published with the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology that discovered that France and Belgium are able to safely deliver them vaginally, and safely.

Wouldn’t you think they’d make it a priority to find out what they’re doing wrong?

When did that get mandated? In July 06 they changed the guidelines to say that experienced dr.'s should offer vag breech. Has this changed again?

In light of recent studies that further clarify the long-term risks of vaginal breech delivery, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that the decision regarding mode of delivery should depend on the experience of the health care provider Cesarean delivery will be the preferred mode for most physicians because of the diminish-ing expertise in vaginal breech delivery. Planned vaginal delivery of a term singleton breech fetus may be reasonable under hospital-specific protocol guidelines for both eligibility and labor management. Before a vaginal breech delivery is planned, women should be informed that the risk of peri-natal or neonatal mortality or short-term serious neonatal morbidity may be higher than if a cesarean delivery is planned, and the patient's informed con-sent should be documented.

I love that - "in the light of studies that further clarify..." actually they don't further clarify, they UN-clarify... after the TBT they thought it was all clear and now it's not again. boneheads. anyway. yes this is what I thought it said - not great but still a step up from what it was before.

The SOGC is supposed to be coming out with new guidelines in the next couple of months... that'll be interesting to see!
