Would you buy Eggs Raised in a forest??

I am not kidding.

"The chickens are free range (they live in a pine forest) where they get fed grain and vegetable scraps from the field."

They would still have access to bugs, but I am completely confused right now.

Chooks aren't naturally pastured animals like sheep or cattle. They did originally come from the forest - albeit a rain forest & they scratched around in the leaf litter for their food. My main issue with eggs is animal rights followed by what they get fed. So I would say :

Sounds perfect! Chickens are woodland creatures by nature so I expect they would produce great eggs from that kind of diet.

Chicks love to roost in trees, etc. so I'm sure they're happy campers! Lots of bugs in a forest, too!

I don't know why it would be a problem.

For chickens whose eggs I eat, I would like for any feed to be organic and for the chickens to be able to move around on the earth and under the sun. I'm not particularly concerned that they eat grass or live on pasture specifically. I'm all about diet and humane treatment for the birds.

Chickens LOVE to scratch and root around in leaf litter and the like. I bet they adore the forest!

Yep, those would be some good eggs. There are a ton of bugs under the leaf litter. The flocks of wild turkeys around here forage in the forested areas like that, I imagine before chickens became domesticated they did so as well. It wouldn't be safe for a prey animal to spend all its time out on meadows/pastures without cover nearby anyhow, so being out on a pasture exclusively isn't a normal situation for a bird of any type.
