OK, this is obviously written in British (which is different from American ) but I am really having a hard time with this:

Question:

The product is made with 75% follow-on milk; if it is a weaning food why isn’t it made with cow’s milk?
Answer:

As cow’s milk is not recommended as the main milk drink for babies under 1 year, and as HiPP Organic Good Night Milk Drink can be given from 6 months onwards the product has been formulated with Follow-on milk. Follow-on milk is particularly suitable as it is designed for this age group and has the desired protein, mineral, vitamin and iron levels.
Isn't "follow-on milk" MADE from cow's milk? Isn't it just what we Americans would call cow's milk based formula? :

What exactly is "follow-on milk"?

It's British slang, evidently.

I think the phrase "follow-on milk" is a way to circumvent the WHO marketing code. The UK pays at least token attention to the WHO, unlike the US.

It isn't a breast milk replacement, which you cannot (ethically) advertise. It's for AFTER you wean as a "follow-on" (at 6 months, naturally ). But, 6 month olds more iron than in unsupplemented, plain cow's milk (due to intestinal microperforations and bleeding). Therefore, you feed iron-supplemented follow-on milk.

But it's not a breasmilk substitue ()

Did anyone else notice the ingredients?

Quote:
Organic Follow-on milk (75%) [organic skimmed milk powder, organic lactose, organic vegetable oils (palm, rapeseed, sunflower), organic corn starch, calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, vitamin mix (vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin D), iron diphosphate, zinc oxide, potassium iodate], organic pregelatinised rice flour (13%), organic whole-grain oatmeal (13%), emulsifier (soya lecithin), thiamin (vitamin B1 )
Um....75+13+13=101

It's more complete than anything! LOL!
