Is the Vitaclay Crock safe?

Thread Starter

I have been looking tirelessly for a safe crock/slow cooker to use.
Only one i have found that may fit the bill is the Vita Clay slow cooker.

I have heard people warn about buying things made in china...

So is this truly safe to use?

Any input would be great!

I don't know - I'm the one digging around on th elead issue & it's driving me bonkers. This is the reason I'm wondering about my gas stove...can't get a straight answer from Hamilton Beach. I've been criticized, people have said, "what's a miniscule amount of lead? we've been ingesting lead for thousands of years..." but the difference is that I'm simmering stock in my slow cooker for 24+ hours at a time, multiple times a week...and eating stock in many meals a day.

SO, I'm not sure about the Vita Clay cooker. A couple of representatives have said that the lead isn't in the glaze but in the clay itself because it's naturally occurring from the earth.

I give up. Sigh.

if you don't want to use your gas stove all night, how about using an electric plate? I did use to simmer my stock on a gas stove, and it was fine, but I understand why you'd rather not.
