Solid Foods

I started feeding solid foods to my six month old, and he LOVED it! He ate small amounts every day for about three weeks until we went to Costa Rica where he got very sick every time he ate solids. We decided to take him off solids until coming home, but now he refuses to eat anything (besides mama's milk, of course). I have tried a large variety of fruits and vegetables - all homemade and mixed with breast milk. He is now eight months old, and I know I should follow my little man's cues, but I'm a little worried because he liked it so much before. Any suggestions on what I can/should do?

I would just wait until he seems interested again. My ds didn't show any interest until he was about a year old; my dd was about 7 months I think (where she was very adament about having bites of whatever we were eating!).

What exactly is your concern? He is not eating enough, or he will never want solids, or is this pressure from extraneous sources?

You know your baby best. When the time is right, it will all fall into place. Anyone who doesn't believe that can go suck an egg.

As long as he is growing I wouldn't worry too much. DD is almost 11 months and there are weeks she is all about solids : and weeks where she just wants to nurse. As long as there aren't other health issues I would just go with the flow.

Totally normal. Babies don't need spoon fed purees. They aren't actually ready for solids until they can manage soft chunks. Offer a few times a week. He'll eat when he's ready.

I would not be concerned. Is he gaining weight properly? Making good pees and poops? My son was pretty much EBF well into toddlerhood because solids were just not his thing and he was fine, above "average" even. I think you should just let your son decide for himself in this case. He'll eat solids when he's ready.
