shampoo for kids?

I'm not sure what to do about dd's hair! She has super fine, dry, blond hair. My hair is and always has been very, very thick. I've never had a problem with it drying out either. So, I don't really know now to take care of her's. I use baking soda and vinegar, but she's only 4, so I don't want to chance getting that stuff in her eyes. Right now we use California Baby Shampoo, but her hair is just straggly and dry. I'm thinking I should be using a conditioner, but I have no idea what to use. Does anyone have a suggestion for a natural, no animal products, no animal testing shampoo and conditioner that would be good?

I'm not much of a help because we don't use anything and DS is 5.

You could try some coconut oil to condition her hair if it seems too dry.

Have you tried the California Baby conditioner? We use that on top of their shampoo and love it

Ah, I can try the coconut oil. But then, will her head be greasy?

No, I've never tried the conditioner. Come to think of it, I didn't know they made a conditioner. I'll look when I'm at the store this weekend. Thank you

This is what we use, too. It can also be used as a leave-in, so if you don't rinse it all out it won't make her hair greasy. AFAIK, they make it in all the "matching" scents they have for the shampoo; including Super Sensitive (unscented).

Why do you need to use anything? My 4 year old has never had his hair cleaned with anything but water. He's never had a haircut, so his hair is very long. His hair always looks great. Until a child starts to go through puberty, I don't think shampoo is necessary. Their hair doesn't get greasy like adult's hair does. I have super dry hair. I wish I didn't have to use anything but water for my hair, but I can't get away with that.

I forgot to mention! We go to the pool at least once a week, so I'm not comfortable with just water to wash out the chlorine.

I have blond hair. When I was a pre-teen, my hair started turning green when I swam in chlorinated water. My mom's hairdresser told me to wet my hair with tap water before going into the pool. He said that dry hair would soak up more of the pool water than wet water. That did help.
I'm not sure that you can wash out chlorine. I think using anything scented will just cover up the smell. The chlorine is definitely very drying. What about wetting her hair before getting into the pool and putting something in it to prevent the chlorine from getting to her hair. Like some kind of oil. Coconut oil? Then shampooing after getting out of the water. I don't know if Aubrey Organics makes kids products, but I have found the adult line very gentle on my very dry hair.
