HELP! need diaper recc!

Okay, so we're using disposables bc we're apartment dwellers and do not have the time/resources for cloth diapers (though we'll be starting in a few months when we move!). Anyhoo, my two-week-old is 8 lbs, and about 21" or so - long and lean, and pees out of the diapers we've tried so far. They have been 7th generation (newborn and size 1), and pampers newborn.

ANY recommendations for diapers that hold in the pee? is he just in between sizes right now? Is this a boy baby thing? Any tricks to help him (and us) out??

Pampers swaddlers work best for ds so far. Probably goes without saying but be sure to point the penis down.

We used disposables for the first 2 weeks until he fit in his cloth and that's about the size he was. We like the Pamper Swaddlers. I liked that they were softer than anyothers and he didn't have any pee or poop leaks with them. You said you tried Pampers but I don't knw if it was the swaddlers or not. Anyway, that's what we used. Oh we also were giving Huggies Supremes and he had a few pee and poop leaks with those so I wasn't a fan.

ETA: I second the penis pointing! It makes a difference and not everyone (women atleast!) thinks about it.

Pampers Swaddlers are the only thing that DS2 can use at night. Holds in a whole nights pee! Never had a blow-out either.

I had a hard time with Huggies Newborn with DS1, but Huggies size 2 were GREAT.

Not in your DDC--but saw your post. We used Pampers Swaddlers for the first 6 weeks but then switched to cloth. We've recently had to use a disposable at night and I just tried the 7th Generation diapers. I've been really impressed. They absorb beautifully and they don't have the horrible chemical smell that the Pampers do (try holding one of each side by side and smelling them--it's scary). I'd recommend getting a small package of each and seeing what you like best. Amazon.com has really good prices on 7th Generation if you decide to go that route.

Thanks mamas! I posted this on another baby board, and it seems like Pampers Swaddlers are the hands-down fave...

I second whoever commented on the chemical smell of Pampers - the poor little guy was in the hospital for a week (loooong story, and he's okay, no long-term effects besides the ones on his parents), and they used Pampers there, and the smell alone - ick! I kept wondering why my baby smelled like gin for a few days, until I realized it was the freaking diapers...

We were hoping to go with 7th generation, and have a case of the size 1s waiting for him, but I think we might have to wait for him to gain a bit of weight before they really really work.

And though I do point his penis down when I diaper him, it's come out that DH doesn't neccesarily - soooo the problem may be solved- heee!
