Chicks for the first time, any suggestions?

Hello everyone. We are getting our first day old chicks next week! We are very excited, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or tips. I think we have everything we need for the first 3 weeks, heat lamp, feeder brooder ect..? Now do we do medicated chick starter or not? I would really like to NOT and raise them on Organic starter and feed. Anyone had chicks raised on non-medicated starter and had good success? My children are not vaccinated and eat organic diets, I would really like our hens to as well. Thanks for your help.

No real advice about actually having chicks, my chicks are coming this week. But I did want to let you know there are more threads about chickens in the country living section. Good luck with your chicks!
