I want to cook it and grind it to put in capsules, but I don't know exactly how to do it. Does anyone have specific instructions? THanks!

There is a thread under postpartum depression about this. Otherwise, what I know in a nutshell from a practitioner of chinese medicine is this is this: Wash it off, salt it and put it in the fridge for an hour. Steam it until the juices run clear when you poke it with a fork. You can add garlic and some other things to the mix when you steam it but I can't remember what. Hopefully someone else can chime in on that part.

When it cools, cut it into thin strips and put them in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Cook in the oven on low, about 200 degrees, until very dry--12 to 24 hours. Or you can use a dehydrator.

Once the strips are dried out you can grind them up using a coffee grinder. This is where the instructions stopped because the woman who told me does the encapsulating herself. I know you can get the gelatin capsules from the health food store but I don't know how to get the powdered placenta in the capsules.

You should be able to Google it and get information, too. I did consume parts of my placenta in the form of a smoothie, one a day for a week, and I had very mild baby blues--only fleeting sadness for a day or two, and have felt great this recovery otherwise. Hope you have good results, also.
