DIY diaper rash cream?

Thread Starter
I would love a recipe for a diaper cream to prevent or treat diaper rash. I use either Avalon Organics or California Baby brands, but they're expensive, and I imagine that there must be a home remedy that works. My toddler and newborn don't get diaper rash too often, but I do need a cream once and a while. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

(ps. Should I post this to the diaper board instead?)

I have never made this do not know if it works

Calendula-Comfrey Diaper Ointment:

1 lb. coconut oil (in the oil aisle; do try to buy the organic kind)
2 good handfuls calendula petals
Comfrey leaves
Melt the coconut oil in a stainless steel pan. Add the herbs. Cook the herbs on low heat for about 30 minutes; the petals should be crispy, not burnt. Filter the ointment into jars. Use as needed.
