I just received my scoby in the mail yesterday, but it had no liquid in it! I followed the directions from NT anyway (minus the starter)--but am I wasting my time? Should I buy a bottled kombucha and add some of that? Should I toss it?

I'd buy a bottle of kombucha and use that for the starter. Think of it as "insurance" in case this scoby fails... you can just grow one from the bottled stuff.
