I think kefir is great. I too try to avoid detoxing while pregnant. But I think a little maintenance never hurt. We have to keep ourselves regular, and our bodies running effeciently to get all our nutrients from foods and into our milk.

Oh, I don't think that kombucha/kefir are bad at all while pg or nursing, so long as you've been drinking them already, since you're body's at a certain point with it then, if that makes sense! I feel like STARTING something like kombucha that's likely to cause some detoxing would feel wrong (to me). ITA, though, that it's very important to keep ourselves regular to get max nutrients - it's a great point! So I really must get more probiotics into my diet for SURE.
I think I'll try ginger carrots again. It's the one probiotic food I've had that's made me nauseous the few times I've tried it, but maybe now will be different--it has been a while since I've tried!
And thanks for the Real Pickles link - I LOVE their pickles!!! Whole Foods hasn't had them for a while though. I'll definitely order some. Maybe I'll get a 5-gallon bucket of 'em!
So Leilalu - the cabbage didn't affect your LO? The one day that I forgot about the cabbage thing & had sauerkraut with lunch, Mia was up screaming with gas all night - I blamed the sauerkraut in retrospect. Maybe I should try one bite again...but then again I so don't want to risk her screaming in pain.
