Difference in mineral makeup brands?

I'd like to try using mineral makeup.. I've seen a couple different brands and I was wondering if anyone had experience with various types to compare?

thanks!

I use and love Iredale mineral cosmetics. Most of her stuff is pretty low in the cosmetic database too.

I use Bare Escentuals... and love it. However, I'm not sure how well it rates on the cosmetics database, I haven't checked yet

I've tried Everyday Minerals (not in the cosmetic database) and Bare Escentuals. Bare Escentuals is in the database but I don't remember the rating because I stopped using it when it made me break out.

that's no good!!

It seems like all of the mainstream brands are coming out with a mineral line now.. Do you think they're comparable?

I used to use Bare Escentuals but it has parabens in it. The fact that they market it as entirely natural and you can't find an ingredient list without calling the company kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

I use SunCat minerals now, they are hand made and I LOVE them... they are amazing and I highly recommend them. Many people have told me I have perfect skins since I started using them... and that isn't the case at all!

You order suncat online through their website.

I tried SunCat and her foundations were very shiny and orange. I almost gave up on mineral makeup all together. I'm glad I ended up trying Everyday Minerals. They offer a free sample kit (all you pay is shipping) and the foundations and blushes etc are fantastic. I especially love the matte foundations. And Everyday Mineral makeup is super cheap, especially when you purchase it in a kit. Now I can afford to wear it everyday, and it's done wonderful things for my skin too. I highly recommend it.

I use Bare Escentuals : and really like it. I have tried a couple of drugstore brands and would not recommend going that route...I have just ended up throwing them away. What I like about Bare Escentuals in addition to just being a good product that does not make my skin break out is that I have a salon locally that sells it. It's helpful to be able to go in and get a consultation and find the perfect shades and products. Apparently, the mineral veil is the only bare escentuals foundation product that contains parabens.

I bought a knock-off brand from eBay (Bare Beauty Minerals, I believe is what it's called) and it makes me break out. Are you saying that the Bare Essentials one would not make me break out?? I'm very intrigued and would like more info!

B.E. made me breakout (as does every other cosmetic brand I have tried).
Everyday Minerals doesn't. Just my experience though!

I've used BE and was happy with the products, but have since switched to Iredale and find it to be more comfortable and definitely of higher quality. I also need to use a less of it for the same amount of coverage.

B.E. contains an ingredient called Bismuth Oxychloride. That is what generally makes a person breakout. It also contains parabens. I would find a company that doesn't use these ingredients. There are a ton out there. Monave is an excellent company. You can google it.

Everyday Minerals has been wonderful for me. They will send you free samples for the cost of shipping ($3-4.) I love their stuff.

I love AfterglowCosmetics.com. Most of their products are vegan. The mineral foundation is amazing! It looked like I didn't have anything on, but gave good coverage. It is Bismuth Oxychloride-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free... I've also purchased their eyeshadows and powder liner, and they're great, too.

many mineral makeups just have minerals added but are made with some of the same ucky stuff other makeups are.

i only use mom-made pure stuff for the past year or two.

i get mine from: www.hyenacart.com/pamperyourselffromtheinsideout

she posted on HC that she is stocking more wednesday including new concealers and her customer service is awesome.

i don't know anything about specific commercial brands because I liked hers so much

I like and use bare escentuals

I've used BE, Everyday Minerals, and Terra Firma. I'm sticking with Terra Firma from now on, because they don't use micronized Titanium Dioxide (BE does from what I understand, and I'm not sure about Everyday Minerals). I didn't like Everyday Minerals because the coverage seemed a bit heavier than the other two, and it bothered me that I could feel it on my face.

I make my own mineral make-up from ingredients I buy at Coastal Scents and Essential Wholesale. My foundation consists of Titanium Dioxide, Zinc, Sericite (Mica), Boron Nitride, Allantoin, and iron oxides. My eyeshadows have Boron Nitride, Magneseum Myristate, Allantoin, and Mica and/or iron oxides. It's a fun hobby for me, my kids like to help a little too, we're homeschoolers and it makes for a great science, math, and art lesson all in one! I use a Magic Blender to grind and I don't find too much dust powder in the air but we wear masks anyways to be safe. I wish I could give another recomendation for ready made but I have not used other brands, just my own creations!

I mean Magic Bullet not magic blender. tee-hee

www.sheermiracle.com (they often have coops on MDC)
