Luck that I didn't tear? Chance I could tear next time?

My first two births, I pushed on my back for over 4 hours each time. The babies were posterior but turned prior to birth. I had an epidural for each, did coached counting to 1-10 pushing even though I could feel when I needed to push. I did not tear either time.

My third birth, natural birth, I labored standing up or on my knees. Labor was 2.5 hours from start to finish. I only pushed through 2 contractions and my daughter was born, so really really fast -- she had a compound presentation -- with a nuchal hand at her head and a cord wrapped around her neck. I had to pause very briefly while pushing b/c they had to cut the cord around her neck b/c she couldn't descend any farther and the cord wouldn't unloop around her neck. So I paused for maybe 30 seconds at the most. I didn't tear despite the very quick pushing and compound presentation. Oh, when I started pushing I pushed sitting up -- not on my knees or standing.

I *think* that my HCPs supported my pereneum during my first two births -- but during my 2nd birth she was not in the room during the entire 4 hours. So it wasn't "supported" the entire time. I don't think it was supported during my last birth as my HCP didn't make it to the birth and there were only residents there.

Was it a fluke that I didn't tear during these three births? I did my kegels and squats - -but so do a lot of women. Why do you think I didn't tear?

because your body didn't need to tear.

I was CUT the first time (UGH!!! My DS was SMALL too. I know my OB did this for the heck of it) but the second time I didn't tear at all. I also pushed him out in two pushes, very quickly. I'm hoping for the same results this time... Fingers crossed!

LOL, I guess I am looking to figure out what I can do this time around. My babes are small too, that might be it as well.

I hate it when docs cut women.

It sounds like your body is really well made for birthing your babies, imagine that!
