Any suggestions for shelf/drawer liners that aren't plastic. DH just installed beautiful real wood cabinets, and I want to protect the surfaces w/out using plastic..
Or pretty fabric- cut with pinking sheats (zig zag look) if you don't sew... i sjut got some pretty fabrics at Wal-mart for $1 a yard, if you are not too picky : )
My grandmother always used paper. She called it shelf paper and just folded it
to fit. (I actually still have it in a few pieces of furniture I got from her) But it looks like plain greyish newsprint type paper that you can buy in bulk to wrap stuff up for moving.
Thanks for the suggestions. I like the bamboo placemat idea for the shelves that "show", and material for drawers and lower shelves that will not have glass doors. I guess I can use double-sided tape to make the corners stick.
As to why to do it, it keeps water marks, scuffs etc from the shelves. And if your shelves were painted with Latex paint (which is a no-no), it protects them from peeling.
I plan to use paper "shelf paper" when I'm done re-doing my kitchen, which I hope will be soon, as I'm sure tired of scraping paint.
