Dtd

So after six plus weeks (six for sure) we DTD. Even though it was the last thing from my mind last night it was nice to re-connect as a couple not just parents of a new baby. Anyone else getting back into the swing of things?

We started gio 4 weeks pp. My mw gave us the ok. What will you all be using to not become pregnant right away?
We did it at 3.5 week postpartum. It was better than I was expecting, I think since I feel better about myself since I'm thinner again.

I have an infant and a toddler and their close spacing is extremely difficult so now I am paranoid about preventing pregnancy for the next 5-6 years. I think we will use condom+pullout method and maybe some FAM although my lazy FAM is what got me my last baby so I know we cant rely on that alone. I refuse to take birth control though so it's difficult to decide what to do that will be effective enough and not too much of a bother.

we dtd 3 weeks pp, i had a good recovery and no teearing from labor.

it is nice to reconnect, although dh has a crazy libido lately.

i am plannng on iud b/c we hate condoms, and i have a strong sensitivity to hormones so no oral birth control for me. we tried the cycle beads but i have very irregular cycles aand that is how we got Henry.

I was wondering about this. I had a c-section and am not really worried about pain (even though I had pain during dtd the after my first c-section), but what's the criteria for being ready? I know docs say 6 weeks and many people do it earlier. Does it matter if you still have lochia? How long does it take for everything to go back to normal? I am a little nervous about my incision area pain being a hindrance. I feel like I should know more about all this!

Rachel, I think the point is that nobody knows for sure what's right. After Alex was born, we were back into the swing of things incredibly quickly with no ill-effects, but after Skye was born it took months before sex didn't hurt. This time we waited a few weeks, and it's all been good

lochia means you still have an open wound in your uterus, so you risk infection if you dtd before you're done bleeding. i'm waiting a week after the lochia is gone. (5 more days to go. )

My midwife didn't seem to have a problem with us dtd whenever -asked at 2wk if we had yet- but we didn't have time/energy until 4 wks. It was great to reconnect.. even if it was a bit sore. No contraception, just pull out... but I'm going to start on micronor soon.

Almost 5w pp, and I just now sorta kinda want to! Something still doesn't feel right down there. Like something is pulled too tight.

I had to wait six weeks just because a suture that hung out a little longer than expected from my episio.

We are using condoms for now. After being told we probably wouldn't ever have kids and finding out obviously we can , we have to do something. I didn't want to expose Eli to hormones even from a low dose pill and we don't know if we are done yet so no snip snip for Tim yet.

4 weeks pp and it still hurts to go to the bathroom. I'm nowhere near ready to dtd. Poor dh.

3 days here :.....I know I know not a good idea! But I didnt have any tearing and for some reason I was chomping at the bit for some. We are using condoms for now until I can decide what kind of BC I want (I'm leary of hormonal) We've only managed to DTD 2 times in 3 1/2 weeks.

hbak

i was wondering about when's a good time to restart. i haven't even self uh, probed the area, but at 2w 1d pp my lochia's almost gone, so that's good. we haven't done piv dtd, but we did some alternatives starting at 1.5 weeks pp. both of us have been rather libidonous lately so, we jumped right into extracurricular activities.

We started "fooling" around at less than a week but didn't go all the way until last week. The fooling was great and really helped us reconnect after not doing much for the last month or so of pregnancy, even better since we could only do heavy petting. Penetration is still a bit painful, but that's because of the section and my body not knowing that a baby didn't come out vaginally - I'm super tight. It took a few months of going very slow before things got back to normal with Michael so at least I know what to expect this time around.

We're dying to do it but I'm not feeling quite ready yet. My mw says my stitches should take 3 weeks to heal and it'll be 3 weeks this Sunday... I would want to wait until after that. DH thinks we have to wait until 6 weeks, and I'm kind of ok with that even though we're both very horny! I feel so skinny post-pregnancy even though I've got one heck of a floppy pooch on my tummy. I haven't weighed myself (we don't have a scale) but I think I am doing pretty good on the weight loss and DH seems to think I look great .

I'm planning to get a mirena IUD. It has a low, local dose of progesterone, and I love the idea of no pills, no condoms until we're ready to be pregnant again. I need to talk to my midwife about getting that taken care of, I'd kind of like to get that done at 6 weeks so hopefully we wouldn't have to worry about condoms ever (we hate them!).

I'm in the same situation- for now just condoms (lambskin ones are SO much better!).

My bleeding stopped about at about 3 weeks pp and thats when all of a sudden the soreness was gone too so we went ahead and it was great.

Dh and I are itching to dtd, I am really wondering how it will go. This might be too much info, but before dd was born I had only had one big o, after she was born, every single time just with penetration. Then after ds I had a couple and they went away, so no big o for almost 4 years: but ds's birth was really traumatic for me, while dd's was incredibly empowering as was ds #2's, if not more so. Anyway, we plan on dtd around 6 weeks, and using condoms til he gets snipped, although I don't know if I am ready for that 'cause I honestly can't say we are done 100% kwim? I can't do hormonal stuff 'cause it messes me up and I don't like the idea of IUDs for me for several reasons. So it'll be condoms...we tried lambskin and we thought they smelled really foul, but then what condom smells yummy except specialty ones

DD is 19 days old and I am still bleeding. I am so ready though, lol. I am just scared it might hurt or that I will be too loose 'down there'

How do your partners deal with leaky breasts during sex? I think DH is kind of spooked by the milk thing even though he likes what it comes out of . What do you do, if anything, to deal with leaking during sex?
