how do you store clothes for the next one?

My dd is 6 months now and I'm cleaning out her closet... she's grown so fast I can't believe it! Well I plan to get pregnant again in the next six months, so how would you store all of those adorable little newborn clothes for the next one? I'm thinking those plastic lidded bins, but the only place I have to put them is the garage, and I just feel like they're gonna get covered in dust and spiders, ewww! Do you have a more airtight alternative? or even a non-plastic one? I would love some suggestions of what's worked for you.

I use spacebags. Sometimes they dont keep thier vacuum seal but they are still good at keeping the ickies out. You can get them at any major retailer.

I use the plastic bins. Just a tip and make sure everything is *really* clean. I just went upstairs a few weeks ago to get clothes down for the baby and some of the stuff smelled really off. I guess a slight smell sitting for a year or 2 can turn into a horrid one. I would advise you to wash & dry at least 2x and make sure there are no stains (esp. from spitup, that was what I had smelling on my clothes, and it was bf spitup. I have heard ff spitup is even worse).

Space bags! I use them to store mine and DH's off season clothes. I haven't had a problem with the vacuum seal breaking though.

I use paper grocery bags & I write the size & season on the side. I store them in the attic/closet, which is pretty clean and not at all musty or damp. They do smell kind of attic-ish, but it's not bad at all, and I wash them before I use them again anyway.

Amy Dacyczyn had a system of boxes.

She uses filing boxes and stacks them in the attic. (I guess if you just have two or three children, a closet would work!)

They are labeled by the age and sex. So, 5YG (5 year old girl) or 6MB (6 month old boy).

When she notices that a child has suddenly outgrown their clothes, she "goes shopping" in the attic. It seems she also bought used clothing in anticipation of her child needing it (i.e. buying 3 YG clothing when her daughter was 12 months)

I have kept ours in cardboard boxes without any issues- but they have always been in closets in our living areas, never a garage or basement, so I don't know if that helps. That, and as you can see from my signature, there really hasn't been all that much 'storage' time anyway...

i use mostly cardboard some platic bins, the occaisional garbage bag. haven't had any major issues with any of it but i think cardboard boxes are the best. easy to label and not so big as to be overwhelming to go through when the time comes.

I wouldn't use cardboard, because it can make the clothes yellow. I know some don't like plastic, but that is what I use. The largest colorful ones with tight fitting lids. The most important thing is that you don't keep each and every item- it's just too much!

We use plastic ru bbermaid bins.. they have 'latching' lids and work great..
i 2nd the suggestion of not keeping everying and anything that is stained, ripped, damaged etc be donated or gotten rid of.
Odds are each new baby will be met with gifts from family and friends and trust me when i say it adds up FAST>..

I have one 18-gallon Rubbermaid tote per child. I keep track of what is in them on my computer.

I store them under my bed.
