What the heck is wrong with my serger?!

Does the blade need to be sharpened periodically?

DH cleaned & oiled my machine for me last night and he had messed with the blade too, showing me how to flip it off If I want to turn off the cutting mechinisim. Well I just went to serge some flannel wipes and the machine is finally working great but now the edge that it cuts is all frayed and raggedy looking anyone know what might be wrong or how I can fix this?

Is the blad screwed on tight? Yes you do need to replace the blade from time to time. Some fabrics are harder on blades than others. My serger came with an extra blade - if yours did too then maybe you can replace it. Otherwise you can call the shop you bought it from and ask them what to do. Hope you get it working right. It stinks when you're ready to sew and the machines are not.

You might also check to see if the blade is engaged all the way. If it flips up out of the way, it might not have been flipped all the way back down into place. I hope the solution is something easy (and inexpensive!) Good luck!
