Would it help to tell him that your pharmacist (ahem, me) assured you that studies have shown oral antihistamines to be ineffective for eczema. (It actually is true, I read it in a pharmacy journal a couple of weeks ago.) Long term allergic reactions cause physiological stress on the body, which will cause other problems in the long term.

it is very frustrating. so much of allopathy seems to look right at a symptom and simply tell you to live with it. i've never told my old family doctor that he was wanting to give me -steroids for asthma when in fact he could have just had me stop eating garlic!!

my north shore doctor referred me for allergy testing years ago and they picked up nil. i don't know if the tests some of us are done are available except through alternative medicines?

you might find mercola.com interesting too.

From Vancouverlori:
"That's ok as long as it's not got bismuth subsalicylate - an aspirin-related drug that is the active ingredient in most pepto-bismol formulations. I guess if it's just "Pepto" it's not got the "bismol" in it... I just have a feeling it's not available in Canada - I haven't heard of it (I'm a pharmacist), but I do work in a really small pharmacy, so a big place might have it."

The Children's Pepto is calcium carbonate. It's just a smaller version of Tums and without the cornstarch (one of my kids can't do corn). There's no bismuth in it.
