Help with question?

I am at 41w1d today and I have been super hydrating to help my fluid levels for an AFI check today.

Just now I spontaneously threw up quite violently... does anybody know if this could be from drinking too much water? Or is this a weird sign of labor?

I have been losing mucous yesterday and today and had some good contractions last night.

Anyone throw up before labor? Thanks!

Jesse threw up during labour with our daughter... Contractions can irritate your stomach because your uterus and stomach are pretty close together.

Or maybe you just drank too much water...

I'm 4o+1 today and just lost my mucous plug, too! Hurray for us!

Good for you wanting to keep your fluids high for the AFI...most momma's don't know how important it is. A low AFI could lead to unnecessary interventions...when all you needed was something to drink.

Feeling flu-like symptoms CAN be normal for some moms in labor. We often hear about the "other end" unleashing before labor (hence the reason castor oil is used as an induction method sometimes) But i have had plenty of momma's who spend some portion or other of their labors vomiting. (I happen to be a transition vomiter! Fun! nothing like a double peaked ctx and vomiting at the same time

Now, that being said, sometimes H2O can be a bit much on a squished, full-o-baby, tummy...you've only got so much room in there! Try something with some nutrition in it...some OJ, a smoothie, etc... to get your electrolytes balanced.

Good luck!

I had diarhea and vomiting before both of my births. How much water are you drinking? I would think you would have to drink lots for it to be a problem.

I threw up several times about 12 hours before my labor began. I thought I came down with the stomach bug my DH and DS had a few days before, but when the baby arrived we realized it was a prelabor sign.
