We have had a lot of changes in the last few weeks and I don't know where to start on eliminating things to find the cause.
DS is mostly breastfed, but has had some formula for when I don't pump enough at work. We are using Nestle GoodStart w/ DHA and ARA. But in the last two weeks or so, I have been trying wean away from the pump and therefore he now gets one bottle of formula every day instead of just occasionally.
He also has just finished a round of ammox. for an ear infection and was also using a nebulizer for about two weeks, but we stopped that about a week ago.
I changed diapers from Huggies Supreme to Pampers Cruisers (trying to save a little money by buying at BJs and they don't carry the supremes).
Introduced Stage 2 dinners - Chicken and Rice, Turkey and Rice, and Chicken and Sweet Potatoes. Before that he was on just stage 2 fruits and stage 2 veggies - so the only change is adding the meats.
So about a week ago I notice the skin between his belly button and groin was blotchy. I figured it was because of the change in diapers. The blotchiness turned to a rash and now looks like eczema. He also now has a very serious looking diaper rash - almost to the point of being purplish and looks like it will probably blister.
Then two days ago I noticed that his knees and elbows are red and a little blotchy and look they are turning to eczema.
So I guess part of my plan is to switch back to the Huggies and to start pumping again - I was down to two pumpings and I guess I have to go back to three instead of down to one. That way I can try and eliminate as much formula as possible.
If I still need to supplement with some formula, should I switch to soy or try and buy the hypoallergenic stuff? Do I need to back off the meats? How do I treat the eczema and keep him from itching his belly?
TIA,
Gina
