I want to make my own cloth diapers to save money and would love to recycle some old clothes, what is the best to use? I have tshirts and such. is there any type of fabric that just does not work for cloth diaper making??

You will want to use all cotton - no synthetics or very little - for the diaper itself. There is a mama on here who has a website about diapering on the cheap. Let me go look . . .
Ah here it is:

It's a great site.

I agree on cottons. You can use old t-shirts, sweatshirts, flannel sheets and blankets. The thrift stores are good for flannel sheets and blankets. I think in the stickies at the top of this forum there is a list of free patterns. You can use old towels for soakers as well. I made some dipes out of them when I first started and the terry got a little rough if I used it on the layer next to baby. But it's great for the soaker.
Have fun and don't get disouraged or overwhelmed with all of the info. You can do it!

Use the t-shirts, you can't go wrong! If you know they have been washed with fabric softener or dried with dryer sheets, though, you may want to throw them in for a few wash cycles to get rid of the softener residue. Other than that, recycled fabrics will work VERY well for you. I'm a personal fan of cotton t-shirts over just about any other fabric for diaper-making....as my link above attests!
