How do you use shea butter?

I have been looking for a good facial mositurizer and read that shea butter is good for acne. I bought some, tried it, and like it a lot. Having read up on it a bit, it seems shea butter is incredibly good for your skin (acne, wrinkles, irritations, dry skin, etc.). But it's really thick & heavy. It works well as a night cream & eye cream, but is a bit heavy for daytime use under make up.

So I'm wondering how others use it? It seems like one of those things that can have a lot of great uses. I just need to fugure them out. Does anyone use it on their hair?

I don't use it on my face, except in really dry isolated spots, like just inside my nose in the winter. But I've heard that if you apply it to your face and leave it for about 30 minutes, it won't be greasy and shiny. I have never tried it this way, though.

I use it everywhere and anywhere including my face. Youve just got to let it soak in a bit (at least 10+ minutes) before trying to apply makeup over it.

There are a lot of great recipies on line for making whipped shea. It's really easy and it makes it a bit lighter and more spreadable. I also like to add a bit of eo to it, because it does have a slight sheepy smell to it.

Shea butter is great for treating dry ends on long hair. I don't use conditioner, but sometimes the ends of my hip length hair can be a little dry. After washing my hair, while it is still a little damp, I melt just a tiny bit between my palms, then gently stroke the palms down the last 6 inches or so of the hair. This keeps my ends silky and soft, and I think it helps prevent split ends.

When going to bed at night, the last thing I do is spread a little shea butter on my lips. Works better than any lip balm product.

I make deodorant with it. I also use it straight as a balm, it's the best thing for excema. I only use unrefined though, it seems to have a lot of active components that the white refined shea doesn't have.

I love shea butter...skin, hair, lips, etc. I've completely fallen in love with it, it works better then anything else I've tried.

Does anyone have a favorite source for it in bulk that isn't too expensive?
