Bath tub soap for eczema skin

So, my poor 4yo has bad eczema on his legs from soy and milk. Now I'm thinking that it's also a result from inhalant allergies as well. He gets really raw and irritated at this time of year because everything is starting to bloom now. I have never found any good soap for him to use in the tub, or even if I should use any soap. So, I'm wondering if any of you have come across any herbally made soap good for crazy itchy dry skin.

I use California Baby super sensitive hair and body wash on my DD. It seems to be helping her eczema.

We use Dr. Bronner's and Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser for skin and California Baby for hair. For lotion, we use Vanicream.

I use Aveeno Baby and Dove unscented.

And you really need to moisturize him after bath. We cover Claire head to toe in Vanicream. It has done wonders for her skin.

Bath Soap:
You could try Dr. Bronner's baby soap and/or his coal tar soap. Coal tar is great for eczema, though irritating to some people.

We use Aquaphor baby wash.

Essentially the same here...cetaphil for skin and california baby for hair, Vanicream for lotion. Anything herbal breaks my son out major except calendula cream. Calendula is good for him but irritates my other kiddo; it's certainly not good for all with irritable skin. Vanicream is very helpful with eczema here. They make soaps and shampoos too that I would try if we needed to.

We use Mustela or Aveeno. The Mustela lotion is great too but we also use Aquaphor and Cetaphil lotion.

My doctor suggested Dove Sensitive Skin Unscented and Eucerin. It's really helped with my eczema. I'm not itchy all the time anymore.

aveeno has some new stuff out made specifically for excema, its great!. We had tried a lot of what the pp have mentioned for dds excema, even had a perscription, but this stuff helps so much better. They have a lotion and bath wash. Its about 8.00 for each, so not too pricey.

vanicream here...it's the ONLY thing that doesn't give DS hives, so it must be pretty darned mild (not herbal and crunchy, except that it's free of a million bad things like parabens and fragrence).

Hi!

I just joined the forum--I have a 5 m/o boy with allergies and eczema and am looking for ways to get the poor bub off cortisone . . .

We use pure olive oil soap (Kiss My Face has a nice one, and there's a liquid castile soap I order online) only on the dirtiest parts (like the neck) in his nightly tepid bath.

And then tons of Vanicream. So far his body is doing nicely, but his face is still very prone to flare.

Looking forward to learning more here.

p.s. ainh: is your ds allergic to lanolin? that's what sent us to Vanicream.

Seabuckthorn or Emu Oil Soaps.

I'm so glad people like the vanicream b/c we just came from allergist and he suggested using it every day. I guess he was right that daily baths are better than less frequent?

I don't use any soap on 11mo DS. I have eczema and I either use grandpa's pine tar soap or an olive oil soap (currently using one made by a friend).

Where do they sell vanicream?

We use Mustela's Stelatopia. This has helped a great deal with our exzema (myself & my DD's). OH, it also helped with 2 of my DD's acne. It's a little pricey, but well worth it for my family. A little goes a long way...... mostly we use this for problem areas & Dove sensitive bar for the rest (Dove finally took out the EO's & almond oil, so now we can use it!)
For lotion, aquaphor works great for problem areas & Lubriderm fragrance-free is good & light.
Hope this helps!

-I wanted to add that we buy the Mustela products from Babies-r-us.
